Extreme
Extreme skating originated and evolved from recreational skating. It involves skating and grinding on a variety of terrains such as ramps, rails, stairs and ledges. There are mainly two forms of extreme skating (park skating, street skating). This is explained further below.
Park Skating:
Park Skating normally takes place in a controlled environment built specifically for the purposes of extreme sports (skatepark). Skaters practice and evolve their trick vocabulary in skate parks. They offer a safe environment for a rollerblader to push their ability to the next level as well as picking up handy hints and tips from other rollerbladers that frequent them regularly. Street Skating:
This kind of skating takes place in urban environments and is normally focused on grinding rails and ledges. The environments are not controlled and the skater may well have to be creative when finding a suitable obstacle to skate. Always be aware of local laws that forbid certain areas to be used in this way... you have been warned! Please click here to go to the street skating gallery.
